I am not going to try and fool myself with hopeful delusions of happy endings and fairy tales. I have done that for many years of my life, and I don’t want to play victim to them anymore. Believing in them is like having cancer. At first you don’t notice anything different until you begin to get sick. In this case, heart sick. You are debilitated by this illness and soon, you are given chemo-therapy: A cocktail of drugs that are supposed to kill the cancerous cells. In this case, the case of the unremitting believers, the treatment is a heavy dose of reality.
And for some, it works. For others, it works for a while, but the cancer or dream, may be stubborn. It may stay with you, even after you take the medication, or get a ‘reality check’. People cling to this false hope that we are going to get better (for cancer patients) or that the dream may become a reality (for the rest of the suckers). And here is the mistake. Happy endings and fairy tales, will never BE a reality because people sit there and wait for them to happen. All they do is sit back and hope. We wait with our cards on the table, hoping to be given what we want, and we do nothing to take it for ourselves! We expect someone or something to hand it to us. We assume that we’re owed or entitled to having it delivered simply because we wanted and waited for it, and that we have no obligation to take action.
